Since
birth, Ken suffered from Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD). At night, he
didn’t sleep well because of the acid. He would wake up and cry almost every
hour as an infant, got down to 5-6 times a night, and finally to 2-3 times a
night before we came to this clinic. Ken’s sleep disorder made me exhausted.
From 2003-2005, we took him to the pediatrician’s office and also to the
Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). They performed endoscopy in
August 2004, which found hiatal hernia. The pH probe determined moderate reflux.
The gastroenterologist prescribed drug medications including Zantac, Prilosec
and Prevacid. At the beginning the drugs seemed to help, but not later. There
were no lasting results.
I decided to find a
natural treatment for GERD because nothing seemed to help and we were so
desperate to do something for him, and also I believe in natural medicine. I wasn’t sure what would happen, but hoped
that he would get better.
We
noticed improvements when Ken started to sleep better. In fact, he slept through
the night after the first treatment and it gave us hope. He now sleeps through
the night and his energy is good and he is not tired. He is eating well and his
