Origin: Chrysanthemun Fower is the dried capitulum of Chryanthemum morifolium Ramat. (Fam. Compositae).
Nature and affinity: Sweet and bitter; slightly cold and distributed to the Channel of Lung and Liver.

Cortex Phellodendri
Origin: Amur Cork-tree is the dried bark of Phellodendron chinensis Schneid. or Phellodendron amurense Rupr. (Fam. Rutaceae). The former is commonly called “Chuan huangbo” and the latter called “Guan huangbo”
Nature and affinity: It is bitter to the taste, cold in nature, and is distributed to the Kidney and Urinary Bladder Channels.
Realgar: Realgar is a mineral of sulfides of Realgar group, containing mainly arsenic disulfide. Realgar occurs in hydrothermal veins with valuable metal sulfide ores and its bright red color can be an aid to prospectors. It also can be found in hot spring deposits and as a volcanic sublimate product (crystallizing from vapors). Realgar gets its name from the Arabic words for "powder of the mine" (rahj al ghar). Realgar is famous for some wonderfully beautiful specimens. Some specimens can have a deep ruby red color with an amazing clarity and a high luster. The color of realgar is truly something to appreciate and cherish. But realgar's beauty is sometimes fleeting.
Rhizoma Coptidis
Origin: Colden Thread is the dried rhizome of Coptis chinensis Franch., Coptis deltoidea C. Y. Cheng et Hsiao or Coptis teeta Wall. (Fam. Ranunculaceae), commonly known as “Wei-lian”, “Ya-lian” or “Yun-lian”, respectively.
Nature and affinity: It is bitter in taste and cold in nature. Its therapeutic action is related to the Channels of the Heart, Spleen, Stomach, Liver, Gallbladder and Large intestine.
Radix Cyathulae
Origin: Medicinal Cyathula Root is the dried root of Cyathula officinalis Kuan (Fam. Amaranthaceae).
