Disease Description: Rickets is a deficiency of Vitamin D which is also known by many other names like Osteomalacia, Renal Osteodystrophy, Paediatric Osteomalacia, Vitamin D deficiency and Renal Rickets. This disease involves softening and weakening of bones in children due to deficiency of Vitamin D. This softening occurs from a loss of the mineral calcium from the skeleton as a result of which bones become flexible and gradually are molded by forces, such as bearing weight, that are exerted on them. This condition could lead to deformities of the body structure.

Origin: Heterophylly Falsestarwort Root is the dried root of Pseudostellaria heterophylla ex Pax et Hoffm.(Fam.Caryophyllaceae).
Nature and affinity: It is sweet and slightly bitter in taste and neutral in nature. Its therapeutic action is related to the Channels of the Spleen and Lung.
Os Draconis
Origin: Crushed fossilised bones
Nature and affinity: It is sweet and astringent in taste and slightly cold in nature, and is distributed to the Heart and Liver Channels.
Cortex Moutan Radicis
Origin: Anhui and Shandong provinces, China
Nature and affinity: Bitter and pungent; cold
Fructus Schisandrae
Origin: Chinese Magnoliavine Fruit is the dried ripe fruit of Schisandra chinensis (Turcz.) Barll. (Fam. Magnoliaceae).
Nature and affinity: It is sour and sweet in taste and warm in nature. Its therapeutic action is related to the Channels of the Lung, Heart and Kidney.
Main Active Ingredient: Schisandrin (C24H32O7)
Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata
Origin: Henan, Hebei and Inner Mongolia
Nature and affinity: Sweet; warm
Rhizoma Dioscoreae
Origin: Common Yam Rhizome is the dried rhizome of Disoscorea opposita Thunb. (Fam. Dioscoreaceae).
Nature and affinity: It is sweet in taste and neutral in nature, and is distributed to the Spleen, Lung and Kidney Channels.
Radix Codonopsis Pilosulae
Origin: Sichuan, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, South of Changjiang river.
Nature and affinity: Sweet in flavour,Sweet and neutral, neutral in property;acting on the spleenand lung channels.
Rhizoma Atractylodis
Origin: Atractylodes Rhizome is the dried rhizome of Atractylodes lancea (Thunb.) DC. or Atractylodes chinensis (DC.) Koidz. (Fam. Compositae).
Nature and affinity: It is pungent and bitter in taste, warm in nature, and distributed to the Spleen, Stomach and Liver Channels.
