Disease Description: Rectal prolapse may be partial, involving only the mucosa, or complete, involving the entire wall of the rectum. Fructus Aurantii
Origin: Provinces of Sichuan, Fiangxi, Fujian and Zhejiang, China

Rhizoma Cimicifugae
Origin: Native of Canada and the United States
Nature and affinity: It is pungent and sweet in flavour, slightly cold in nature and acting on the lung, spleen and stomach channels.
Main Active Ingredient: The chief constituents of cimicifuga are a large amount of resin, isoferulic acid, a trace of salicylic acid, a phytosterol, palmitic acid, and three crystalline bodies which are apparently alcohols. By exhausting with alcohol, concentrating the tincture and pouring it into twenty times its volume of water, about 18 per cent. of cimicifugin, a mixture of resinous and other bodies, is precipitated.
Rhizoma Coptidis
Origin: Colden Thread is the dried rhizome of Coptis chinensis Franch., Coptis deltoidea C. Y. Cheng et Hsiao or Coptis teeta Wall. (Fam. Ranunculaceae), commonly known as “Wei-lian”, “Ya-lian” or “Yun-lian”, respectively.
Nature and affinity: It is bitter in taste and cold in nature. Its therapeutic action is related to the Channels of the Heart, Spleen, Stomach, Liver, Gallbladder and Large intestine.
Fructus Cnidii
Origin: Common Cnidium Fruit is the dried ripe fruit of Cnidium monnieri (L.) Cuss. (Fam. Umbelliferae).
Nature and affinity: It is pungent and bitter in taste and warm in nature, and is distributed to the Kidney Channel.
Main Active Ingredient: Osthole (C10H16O3)
Radix Sanguisorbae
Origin: Garden Burnet Root is the dried root of Sanguisorba officinalis L. or sanguisorba officinalis L. var. longifolia(Bert.) Yu et Li(Fam.Rosaceae).
Nature and affinity: It is bitter, sour and pucker in taste and slightly cold in nature, and is distributed to the Liver,and Large Intestine Channel.
